Travel day #2
Yesterday, after our flight to Zagreb was cancelled, we had to leave the Amsterdam airport and get stamped to enter the Netherlands. We booked a hotel room and took a taxi there. After a much needed nap we went downstairs to a Mediterranean buffet in the hotel restaurant. That was a perfect birthday dinner, ending a crappy day.
By the way, they have Heineken on tap at the buffet. No licensed bartender needed, just a stern warning posted to those under 18.
At 1am, somebody unlocked our door and came into the doorway. He saw our bags and realized the hotel messed up. In the morning we weren’t able to auto checkout, and I have a feeling the desk didn’t truly book the room to us, even though our pass card worked in the door.
Now we sit at the Amsterdam airport again, waiting for a 3pm flight to Frankfurt, and then a 5 hour layover there before leaving there for Zagreb. We should arrive in Zagreb at 10pm. Cousin Tomek will pick us up and take us downtown to our hotel. In the morning we will rent a car and drive south, skipping any sightseeing in Zagreb. We would’ve been doing all that today. Thanks KLM.
